Call Your Dentist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As soon as your crown falls out, you should look for it. If it\u2019s still in your mouth, take it out. You need to carefully clean the area where the crown was. Be especially gentle because the area may be sensitive. Give your dentist a call at your earliest convenience to schedule an urgent visit. If you are experiencing pain, let them know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examine the Area<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You should look at the inside of your crown and remove any debris if you can. Check that none of your natural tooth broke off and became lodged in the crown. Run your tongue over your underlying tooth to carefully check for sharp edges. You don\u2019t want to accidentally hurt the soft tissues in the mouth. If your crown is hollow, you can try to place it back on your tooth for the time being. Check with your dentist to see whether or not adhesive should be used until you can get to the office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until you go to the dental office, you need to avoid both chewy and sticky foods that could cause additional damage. Chew on the opposite side of your mouth and only eat soft food until the issue has been resolved by your dentist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When your appointment rolls around, your dentist needs to take a look to see whether or not your crown can be put back in its place or if you need to have a new one custom-made for you. Either way, they will thoroughly clean the area and cement the crown or temporary crown in place. If you need a new crown, you will need to come back a few weeks liker to have your permanent restoration placed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
